Portuguese Custard Espresso Tarts

Gourmand Inspired Suggestion: Who will not enjoy a excellent espresso dessert and who will not unquestionably adore Portuguese tarts? I assumed I would marry these two passions of mine and develop some Portuguese Espresso Tarts.

I didn’t have a muffin tin, so I employed the oven protected tea cups all over again, but they turned out incredibly properly with the puff pastry – if you like that added bit of puff.

Elements:

4 x 10 cm rounds of puff pastry
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup milk
2 egg yolks
1 shot of espresso or potent coffee
2 tbs corn flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbs brown sugar

Approach:

Grease a muffin tin (or in my case, tea cup) and include with puff pastry sheets to variety 4 great bowls. Refrigerate.

Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Whilst the oven is heating, incorporate sugar and drinking water in a saucepan and stir little by little over very low warmth till sugar dissolves and becomes syrupy. Take out from warmth.

In a bowl, combine your corn flour, milk and egg yolks and whisk until nicely merged. Include sugar mixture and vanilla extract and combine completely. Return mixture to stove and warmth slowly but surely until finally mixture thickens to a superior custard consistency. Increase espresso and stir until finally properly merged.

Get rid of pastry cups and pour custard combination into bases. Bake for 20-25 minutes until finally the pastry just starts to brown. Take out from oven and enable the custard settle back into the bases.

Distribute brown sugar on a piece of aluminum foil and dry in oven for 1-2 minutes to get rid of moisture. Carefully tap the tarts out of their containers and then sprinkle the tops with brown sugar. Area beneath sizzling grill or broiler, or use a blow torch, to immediately caramelize the tops. Serve.
